About AEPI

    The Association of Emergency Physicians of India (AEPI) is national voluntary organization set up by young indigenously trained emergency physicians with the aim to create and support a platform for the development of the specialty of emergency medicine in India.

    The specialty of Emergency Medicine was officially recognized by the Medical Council of India in 2009. Since then it has witnessed many key changes. We would like to start a movement to empower young aspiring emergency trainees and doctors, both in academic and leadership skills, thereby focusing on creating a healthy and strong network of emergency physicians who would then strengthen this specialty in all directions.

    Aims and Objectives:

    • i. To form a platform to run the activities of Emergency Physicians work.
    • ii. To work for the welfare of Emergency Physicians working all over India
    • iii. To promote the advance of academics in the field of emergency medicine in India
    • iv. To provide inspiration, guidance and support towards patient care, education, and research in the field of Emergency Medicine
    • v. To promote uniform standards and protocols for patient-care in the emergency department
    • vi. To spread awareness regarding latest developments and advances in the field of emergency medicine
    • vii. To promote establishment of state based chapters for emergency medicine physicians to cater to the needs, according to regional areas
    • viii. To serve as a forum to promote and coordinate research in the field of Emergency Medicine
    • ix. To serve as a forum for Emergency Physicians to discuss the issues pertaining to their professional disciplines
    • x. To conduct and co‐ordinate meetings, seminars, conferences, workshops to impart and spread awareness and knowledge regarding Emergency Medicine
    • xi. To receive donations or funds from individuals, societies, institutions, government agencies or any organization towards the activities of the society
    • xii. To provide support and guidance to residents pursuing Emergency Medicine courses in various parts of the country
    • xiii. To act as a medium to facilitate communications between the DNB residents and National Board of Examinations, New Delhi to discuss matters pertaining to academics and training of the residents
    • xiv. To develop indigenous and customized courses pertaining to life saving interventions for medical and general community in line with the latest research available, tailored to suit Indian scenario and implementation at national level
    • xv. To bring out monthly newsletter to showcase activities conducted at regional/state chapters
    • xvi. To bring out nationwide decision making protocols and nursing protocols for emergency department
    • xvii. To encourage maximum participation for residents in academic programs related to emergency medicine across the country
    • xviii. To ensure uniform standards in training emergency medicine residents all over the nation
    • xix. To provide solutions in matters pertaining to lack of proper training and lack of qualified faculty
    • xx. To receive feedback of DNB residents from all hospitals where DNB Emergency Medicine program is run and coordinate matters of concern if any, directly with the hospital management
    • xxi. To arrange and organize social and cultural functions from time to time
    • xxii. To publish books, journals and other publications for the promotion and advancement of emergency medicine residents
    • xxiii. To disseminate information of government rules, policies and notifications among the members of the association
    • xxiv. To help and assist resident doctors and their families during personal crisis by providing financial, legal or other support as the situation demands
